"Fashion Fades, Style Is Eternal" - Yves Saint Laurent

I was lucky enough to take part in a trip with Teesside University to the amazing Yves Saint Laurent; Style Is Eternal Exhibition at the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle last night, So I wanted to share my thoughts on the exhibition with you guys!

The exhibition gives you the great opportunity to take a look into the life and work of the French Fashion designer YSL. Im so glad that something like this has had the opportunity to come to Bowes Museum, as it is the first exhibition in the UK to showcase the work of Yves Saint Laurent, I would expect something as amazing as this to be showcased in London, so to have this so local is such a great experience and for anyone who lives near, I would highly reccomend a visit!

The exhibition also doesnt just feature his collections, It showcases the drawings and illustrations for these designs, along with his artistic and amazing approach towards embroidery and his beautiful jewellery.

I was so amazed by his work, and all of the different ideas and concepts that come across throughout his amazing designs are really inspiring. I deffinetly picked out so many of these pieces that I just wanted to take home with me.. Seeing the work of Saint Laurent up close really is such a great experience!

These 2 dresses caught my eye so much, and for different things too. I adore the concept of the Mondrian Dress and its artistic approach, of how the design is inspired by the work of artist Piet Mondrian, it just adds so much artistic effect to this simple dress design. This pink dress was also most deffinetly my favourite from the exhibition, I just love the elegancy it portrays and how utterly stunning it is, I couldnt stop looking at it!

This collection; Le Smoking, is also the other which I couldnt take my eyes off. The idea of menswear being made into a womenswear collection is brilliant and I love the sophisticated and elegant look it gives. Who says only men can wear tuxedos and women cant look utterly beautiful in them?

Overall, I enjoyed the visit so much, and whats even better was the fact that we were treated with scones and juice when we arrived, it was like a mini afternoon tea! The place is also so generally beautiful.. It is so worth a visit if you live near. I havent posted all of the photos, but Im sure more and more will appear on my instagram, so make sure your following me if you want to see more!
