Unique and Independent: Vintage Vibes of Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough is a lovely town for shopping.. it has some of the most well-known big retailers such as; Debenhams, Topshop, New Look, Miss Selfridge, House Of Fraser, M&S, Primark and many others. However it also has small independent stores which are my personal favourites!
I love shopping at Middlesbrough, I go to Middlesbrough college so i'm always there, and I always make time to have a browse around the shops. Although there are the big brand shops, I think the small independant shops are the ones to visit!
There is such a range of these unique and vintage shops around the town, which all sell a mix of all the different things a girl loves, including; jewellery, clothing, home accessories, bath essentials, candles, fashion accessories, They sell pretty much everything cute and vintage that a girl admires!

I have a selection of my favourite vintage shops in Middlesbrough town...

1. Pretty Twisted

Pretty Twisted is one of the cutest shops in Middlesbrough. It has 2 stores in the town, which are both so girly and pretty. They have a store located opposite Middlesbrough bus station next to the Princess Alice pub and another located above Salvins Barbers near House Of Fraser. The shop opposite the bus station sells; bath essentials, candles, homeware and other dainty vintage items and the other store is very similar, however sells different items such as jewellery and bohemian accessories. I personally really like this shop, I think the items are just so cute and vintage and the interior of the shop is so lovely. The staff are also so lovely and welcoming.

I have purchased several items from Pretty Twisted and I have always been satisfied, I have purchased; jewellery, candles, soaps and bath bombs (which smell amazing), and all of the items are at such good prices! I'm a girl that is a sucker for cute, dainty items, so I highly reccomend this shop, it is also perfect for buying gifts for people. (which I have done several times, I cant resist!) You can also shop online, so if you dont live local, you can enjoy all of the perks of Pretty Twisted online! I personally love the bath cosmetics that are sold.. they sell Bomb Cosmetics, which smell unbelievable, Ive purchased several of the bath bombs and soaps and they are so lovely! I would deffinetly buy these as a gift as theyre such a small, lovely present for someone.

Dainty-Lou Boutique is also another independent boutique. Dainty-Lou is located on Baker Street, which is known to be the vintage street of Middlesbrough. Dainty-Lou is a retailer of womens clothing, accessories and jewellery and all of their items which are sold are hand made by Dainty-Lou and the other brands which they stock. I love this boutique, I think it is such a nice shop which sells the nicest clothing and accessories, and the fact that everything is handmade makes it extra special. The staff in the store are really nice people and are very welcoming.. I went down to their launch day for the S/S 15 Collection and there was free cupcakes and drinks and I got a goody bag on my arrival with some of the Dainty-Lou unique products.

I recently purchased a stunning kimono from this boutique from their Bespoke to Evoke collection and I love it. It is such good quality and looks stunning on. The price range throughout the store is also really good, it is worth a trip to purchase some goodies for the summer. Dainty-Lou also stock other items aswell as clothing and accessories, they stock; candles, soaps and beauty items (such as the full lips plumping device). They also stock their items throughout boutiques in England, so if you dont live local, there will always be somewhere closer to purchase Dainty-Lou items, or you can shop online! I like the huge style range that is given, so there is alot to choose from for each individual, including different style ranges and different colour ranges, It ensures that there will always be something to suit each person.. I also really like the accessories. I personally like the Marlee and Fee accessories, along with the Dainty-Lou accessories. I think Middlesbrough in general is a really good place for vintage fashion. I think all of the independant stockists have such a good range of all the things that people love to buy (especially the vintage and boho girls, including me)! Baker Street is deffinetly a place to visit, it has many other independant stores aswell as Dolly Rockers and Dainty-Lou, it also has; Disgraceland Vintage, Vintageous Rags and Dandy Boy. There is also a range of other shops along Baker Street, which consist of barbers, hairdressers, cafes etc. One of the popular cafes in Middlesbrough is Chilli Cake, Ive heard such good reports about it, but I havent had chance to pay a visit myself yet, its deffinetly on the cards though and I reccomend it to anyone else to try it, Its also located on Baker Street.

If your looking to shop in Middlesbrough, I reccomend a trip to these shops, or if not, take a look at their social media pages or shop online...
