Sewing: Cut-Out Crop

Its nearly the end of my first year at college, which means I will have a lot of free time to blog, which Im happy about, as I havent really done a lot lately, due to my college work. Anyway, I thought I would share more of my college work on my blog, and this time Im featuring the first half of my fashion garment making assignment.
Cynthia Rowley
I have created this cute little cropped crossover strap top, which Im really pleased with the outcome, this is a Cynthia Rowley design and its made for sports, however I have made it in this pretty cotton fabric, to make it for everyday and occasion wear rather than sports wear. It has a button to connect the straps together around the back of the neck, along with a zipper down the side.

I love the crossover strap design of this top and I also love the cut-out triangle design in the centre.. Im glad i decided on this pattern as since Ive been creating the garment, Ive spotted a lot of these style tops in retailers, they are becoming popular in fashion at the minute with tops and dresses. I chose to do this in a monochrome fabric, which is what I wanted from the start, and I found this lovely printed cotton at a local fabric stall at Stockton market, and it was only £5.00 a metre. I struggled so much to find the perfect fabric as not many places local to me stock fabrics, so I was really happy when I found this, as I looked in Boyes and nothing was appealing to me.
I am also hoping to start creating more garments in my free time and maybe selling them, I would love to know what you think on this so Im happy for you to leave comments..:)
I have also created some trousers using the same fabric, which I will be blogging about when I have finished them..
